It's been a busy April down at the Front. The weather here has been downright stunning (a record 84 last week!!), so I've been hauling the weasels outside as much as possible. The only downside to this is it takes me away from the computer, thus dragging out the time between posts here. Whoops. And y'know, what is it about pulling up a "compose" page that makes your brain go all blank, anyway? Sheesh...
The Bigass Chunky Giant Sweater is actually almost finished, I think. I need to weave in ends & block it, and I'm debating taking the collar back by a couple rows, but beyond that, it's done. Photos will have to wait a bit, though. I'm really pleased to have this finished...I'm dying to cast on Picovoli, and while I really do love the BCGS, and it is actually fairly flattering to my chunky figure, it really is a large project to go hauling all around to knit on. I mean, between the sweater & the accompanying yarny cake, it was HUGE. Had it's own bag & everything. It didn't use all the yarn I bought for it, either, which is remarkable...I'd originally purchased four hanks of Burly Spun for this pattern, but it turns out that it only required 2 3/4 hanks, so now I've got a big pile of superfat just-this-side-of-roving red yarn. Maybe I could make a hat and scarf set, or something similar...
Today is unfortunately not going to be a very knitty kind of a day. I've got a bunch of errands to run (oh, the life of a mother), and I've got to prepare for a class I'm teaching tonight. Eek. It's a home spa sort of thing, an offshoot of my soapmaking business thing, and while I've taught this very same class several times before, I'm still getting all kinds of nervous. It's totally worth it for what they're paying me, and I fully plan on setting the money aside for Stitches (woohoo!), but yow...public speaking sucks! It's too bad I can't knit while I teach...
